Co. Kerry is located in the southeast corner of Ireland, and accounts for almost 12% of the population of the province of Munster. It is bordered by Co. Cork to the east, Co. Limerick to the northeast, and is fringed by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south. The name Kerry originates from the Irish Ciarraí or ciar-raighe, meaning ‘the people of Ciar’.

Kerry is famous for its breathtaking landscape as well as its wealth of wildlife. It boasts the highest mountain in Ireland, a national park, many blue-flag beaches and exceptionally scenic hill-walking routes. Surrounded by sea and mountains, this majestic county attracts thousands of visitors each year.
