Your local library is an excellent source for all the information you may need.

Ask Your Librarian or Teacher
Ask your School Librarian or Teacher if they can help you find out information about your School and the surrounding local area.
Information you could look out for are photos and media publications (ie: Newspaper clippings etc) that may show change of the landscape, buildings or roads.

http://www.museum.ie has loads of artefacts and evidence from Ireland throughout the centuries, even before your grandparents were born.
http://www.reformation.org is a good historical website to find out the stories behind the artefacts and history of Ireland.
http://www.moyvane.com/schooling.shtml has a webpage (this link) where you can view the Kildare Place Society and its teachers around the time they started receiving governement grants for building National Schools in Ireland.
