Make a brochure about the school period/topic being studied . Example make a brochure advertising a hedge school or hedge school teacher which would help to parents to choose this school. Include maps and drawings.

Make a class book about the children's research on schools in history. Different pairs can take responsibility for different sections.

Children can make an ABC book conveying the history of schools. In each section they have to think of something about schools to do with the letter "B is for benches. Schools had different styles of benches. Some had a back on them, others had none….."

Make a museum exhibition called School in the 1950's. Old school textbooks or school artefacts can be displayed and the children can write small cards to describe each item.

Timelines: Teachers can help children to construct and display a large timeline which shows the history of schools in Ireland.

A timeline for the history of their own school could also be made. An example of a school timeline can be seen in the Schools in Raheny unit for this age level. For this level, some central dates should be displayed such as the opening of national schools in the 1930's

Significant Individual or group: Children can make a small album about a particular person, group or type of school who had an impact on education and schools by making a storyboard of about 8 snapshots. Each drawing should have an informative caption. Example-Vere Forster ; ModelSchools; hedge schools.
