Being energy aware
You saw earlier that using a switch is a good way to save electricity when a circuit is not in use.
Did you know that 25% of Irish electricity consumption is in the home?
Go to the ESB website and use their ‘Appliance calculator’ to work out how much it costs to run your favourite domestic appliances (e.g. your laptop or your 42” plasma TV screen).
The unit of electricity consumption is the ‘kilowatt hour’ or ‘kWh'. Each kWh costs 15.03c.
Now, take the next step and reduce your energy consumption by following the tips on the Sustainable Energy Ireland website or on the Power of One website.
