Managing Events

Programming and managing events for young people

Libraries are primarily a public space at the heart of the community and this is reflected in their programmes of events and activities.

Local libraries offer a variety of reading development activities, such as storytelling time, “parents and toddlers” reading sessions , young readers clubs and authors’ visits.

When planning to run an event for young people in your library, it is recommended to do some preparatory work to make sure that everything will go smoothly on the day.

The event guidelines compiled by Children’s Book Ireland are based on users’ feedback and offer a good starting point for making events a success.
