The Military Archives is the place of deposit for the records of the Department of Defence, the Defence Forces and the Army Pensions Board (Sec. 14, National Archives Act, 1986). Collections include The Bureau of Military History 1913-1921, the Collins papers, Civil War operations and reports, Emergency Defence provisions (1939-1946), material relating to military service with the United Nations or with United Nations Mandated Missions, Department of Defence files, photographs and film. Access is by appointment only.
