Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre

The centre informs visitors about a bog road built in approximately 148 BC near the River Shannon. Constructed of oak, it is the largest of its type found in Europe, excavated by Professor Barry Rafferty, UCD. An 18m section of the road is preserved and on permanent display. Both Bord na Móna and the Office of Public Works preserve the bog and the remains of the roadway.
