Dublin Fire Brigade Museum

In medieval times large parts of Dublin were destroyed by fire. At the time only ad hoc arrangements existed for fighting fires. In 1862 Dublin Corporation Fire Brigade Act enabled the establishment of a permanent organized service. The history of the Dublin Fire Brigade includes events such as the 1916 Easter Rising, the War of Independence and Civil War which saw heavy damage to the city of Dublin, the 1941 Luftwaffe bombing of the North Strand and the 1981 Stardust nightclub fire. Located at the DFB training centre, the museum spanning 2 floors includes uniforms, equipment, photographs and other historical items.
