James Mitchell Geological Museum

Containing a 19th century geological collection of rocks, minerals and fossils, the James Mitchell Geological Museum caters for students and academics alike. It is especially important for those interested in local geology in the west of Ireland. The museum is a partial remnant of the now defunct National History Museum NUI, Galway. It had been falling into neglect but has been reinvigorated and restored in recent years.
