Donaghmore Famine Workhouse Museum

Donaghmore Famine Workhouse Museum seeks to tell the story of familes who were victims of the Great Irish Potato Famine. The famine claimed the lives of over a million people and forced more than a million to emigrate. The conditions for ordinary poor people before, during and after the disaster are vividly described. There are tours and exhibits which explain the background to the creation of the workhouses which existed across the country.
