Kilmallock Museum And History Trail

There is evidence that Kilmallock has been inhabitated since ancient times and it was also an important town in medieval Ireland. Tankardstown excavations discovered early farming settlment from 4000 BC. The museum has scale models of Stone Age dwellings and a model of the town in medieval times featuring the town walls. More recently during the Irish Civil War, the Kilmallock area was the scene of fierce fighting. Other exhibits tell the industrial rural and social history of the area and visitors can take a guided tour starting at the museum.
