Wexford

As part of the push to make their operation more sustainable, Wexford Festival Opera, in conjunction with Wexford Chamber and supported by The Environmental Protection Agency NWPP, embarked on an exciting and innovative programme to Green the Opera Festival. The Opera House implemented the Green Hospitality Awards programme criteria and invited all suppliers of tourism and business services to join them in this process with the objective to have the Wexford Festival Opera branded as a Green Tourism Festival.

The EPA have been involved in other green events, such as the Green Fleadh, which was held in Cavan in August and was reported in the last newsletter. These projects are extremely worthwhile as they gain the support of business, are focused on behavioral change and also raise awareness of the agenda among the event goers.
