There were many famous names in the Clements family, apart from the Third Earl. Above is the direct lineage. However there were other famous members who took very opposing stances on Irish affairs. Charlie Clements was involved in the UVF which smuggled arms into the North for loyalist use in the 1913-1916 period. On the otherhand Bob Clements was jailed for IRA activity in the 1940s and learned Gaeilge in the Curragh.
