In the early hours of the morning of the 30th of October 1816 eight people perished in a fire at Wildgoose Lodge in the Barony of Ardee Co.Louth.

The fire was a revenge killing by the ribbon men for the prosecution of their members. The picture above depicts Wildgoose lodge in its heyday and was almost certainly done by one of the children of the Rev. Filgate.
