Photographic portrait of Captain C. Duckett Steuart who was the first Captain of Carlow Golf Club. He served in that office in the years 1899-1900. He was a member of the Duckett Steuart family of Duckett's Grove House near Carlow. At that time it was known as the Leinster Golf Club.

Photograph of the first club house for Carlow, then known as the Leinster Golf Club, situated at Gotham. Gotham was mid may between Carlow and Maganey and was conveniently reached by rail from either station. This first pavillion cost £99 and it was erected in 1904.

Carlow Rowing Club beside the River Barrow in Carlow town. Now a flourishing club with teams and membership in all categories, it was founded in the year 1859. Many of the prominent catholic families of Carlow were associated with the club in its early years.
