A New Play Shelter

The Gaile School building has undergone many changes down through the years. The school started out with two classrooms, a porch and a coal store in 1900.

The coal store was later moved outside, where toilets were also built. In the 1960s, cloakrooms and indoor toilets were added, along with a play shelter and water tower.

Continuity

Further developments took place in the 1990s, when a hall was built in the what was then the school yard.

Gaile School has had many alterations during over a century of existence, but it still operates with the same two classrooms it had on its opening day. Therefore, children are learning in the same rooms as their ancestors, creating a sense of continuity and tradition.
