  1. Gather at least five different white objects such as a white runner, white handbag, items of clothing, a cup, a bowl, a sea shell etc.
  2. Set up an interesting still life using only these white objects
  3. Examine the different shades of white that you can see. Can you spot any hints of yellow, blue or pink in your objects or in their cast shadows?
  4. Accurately record all the different shades of white that you can see by mixing different tints (colour added to white)
  5. Paint the still life by creating the illusion of form using only blue for the cast shadows and not black

Look at the art of Whistler or Wayne Thiebaud for inspiration.
