Adult Book Clubs / Reading Groups

Love reading and talking about books?  Why not join one of our library-based Book Clubs and enjoy informative book discussions with like-minded people?  Book Club members usually meet once a month to discuss books and writers, and have the opportunity to attend book launches, author visits and trips to places  of literary interest.
Book Club membership is free, and anybody is welcome to join.

The Second Tuesday club meet in the Central Library at 2.00 pm on second Tuesday of each month.
The Saturday Book club meet on selected Saturdays at 11.15 am.
The Companions of Cordoba specialise in reading non-fiction. They meet every Saturday 3.30p.m. - 5.00p.m.

The Lucky Dip Club is a bookclub with a difference! Members chose their own book and chat informally about books and authors. There are opportunities to attend book launches, trips and visits to places of literary interest. This vibrant and active group meets on the first Friday of every month from 11.00-1.00pm

Douglas Library, Douglas Village Shopping Centre, Cork

The Douglas Book Club meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 11.00am and currently have 21 members. Usually there is no set book, members discuss what they are reading at the moment. A few times a year they will chose one particular book to read, usually a classic.

Hollyhill Library, Foyle Avenue, Knocknaheeny, Cork

One of the newer book clubs in our services, Hollyhill Readers met for the first time in January 2007. The group meets every 2 months, on the third Tuesdays in January, March, May, July, September and November. New members are always welcome.

Mayfield Library, Old Youghal Road, Cork

The Frank O’Connor Library Book Club has been meeting since 1994.  Members meet once a month, September - June to discuss books and writers.  Occasionally the members organize activities and excursions around a literary theme.  The meetings take place on the second Wednesday of each month, beginning at 11.00 a.m. Membership is free and new members always welcome.
