Reader Development: Young People
This section of our site aims to provide guidelines for best practice in the provision by Irish public libraries of services to young people. Its target audience will be library staff setting up services for their youngest users or already working with them but exploring further developments in the sector.
The guidelines will focus on practical examples offering an overview of what has been already achieved across Ireland and abroad in this area. They will also highlight new avenues that would enhance and develop further the library services available to young people.
The content of the guidelines is compiled by An Chomhairle Leabharlanna (The Library Council) in co-operation with the Working Group on Library Services for Children and Young People, having regard to the research commissioned by the Office of the Minister for Children and recently published in this area, Young People and Public Libraries in Ireland: issues and opportunities
Contributions and suggestions by other interested parties are welcome.
