Did you know that a.m. and   p.m. stand for ante meridian and post meridian?

In Latin ante means before and post means after.

Meridian used to mean noon or the middle of the day and the sun was “passing meridian” at   noon. So the a.m (or morning time) was the time before the sun passed meridian and p.m was after the sun had passed meridian at noon.
