Snowy Street Scene, College Green 1902 (Dublin City Library)Over 100 years Ireland has changed dramatically, and with that so has Irish writing. Today we can look back on a time when Ireland was part of the British Empire, ruled by Queen Victoria. A time when Irish culture was just beginning to reinvent itself and a new national pride was born. This era saw the coming of age of the women's movement and the struggle for Irish home rule. Later, freedom from Britain would be granted, but not before many lives were lost, and political heros and villains created.
