The Annals of the Four Masters is an account of ancient Irish history from the earliest times to 1616 AD. The Four Masters were Franciscan Brother Michael (Tadhg) O'Clery and three lay professional writers: Peregrine O'Clery, Fearfasa O'Mulcony and Peregrine O'Duigenan.

Work began on the Annals in 1632 and was completed in 1636. The work was carried out in the Franciscan Abbey of Donegal. It is one of Ireland's most important historical works.
