If when you add the water you can feel lots of grainy pieces the soil is probably a grainy or sandy soil.
The best soil for growing crops is soil which are a mixture of sand, clay and other particles.
They are easily ploughed and they keep in the soil nutrients.
If the soil feels a little like clay and a little like sandy soil but it is not too sticky it is probably a loam type soil.
