A terminal sire is a bull which is best suited to the production of meat.
Two breeds are cross bred, the dam from one breed e.g. Angus to the bull of a Hereford, and the dams of the Hereford to the dams of the Angus, these offspring are used for milk and as suckler cows. Suckler cows are bred with the terminal sire to produce calves best suited to beef production because of their growth rate and size.
