The Seán Dunne Literary Festival is a celebration of the author's life. It has been taking place in March or April since 1997. It is organised by the Arts Office in Waterford City Council to commerate Seán's contribution to literature.

The Festival encompasses literature and poetry as well as theatre, illustration and bookbinding. The festival also involves outreach to schools, exhibitions by design students from Waterford Institute of Technology.

Authors and poets including John McGahern, Ulick O'Connor, Jim Nolan, Paul Durcan and Paula Meehan have spoken and hosted workshops at the festival.
