The IVRLA Project

The IVRLA (Irish Virtual Library and Archive) project aims to digitise printed and manuscript text, graphic, audio and video materials from four UCD repositories (the Library and the Departments of Archives, Irish Folklore and Modern Irish); to develop and apply appropriate metadata structures; and to establish an innovative interface to enable researchers to identify, locate and retrieve the digital content.

The project is one of several research programmes under the auspices of the Humanities Institute of Ireland, established at University College Dublin in 2002 under the Higher Education Authority’s Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions, to provide a new environment for research in the humanities.
