There are a large number of artefacts from 19th and 20th century classrooms which have been donated or collected from schools. The museum is run in conjunction with an archive collection hosted in the college which chronicles the activities of Kildare Place Society (The Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor in Ireland) founded in 1811. There are permanent displays of books, materials and teaching aids. Actors plays the parts of a teacher and students in period costume.
