Te Story of the Harp by W.H. Grattan Flood was published in London in 1905. It traces the history of the harp from early Egyptian times to the end of the nineteenth century. It contains much history on the Irish harp and includes a chapter dedicated to Turlough O'Carolan.

Tarbert House,the estate of the Leslie family lies on the outskirts of Tarbert.Both the Leslie estate and the back garden of the MacGreevy house end at the Shannon estuary. MacGreevy refers to the estate in the poem Nocturne "the wooded,watered land". Tarbert House is a tall plain residence with seven bays,three stories high and built sometime after 1701.

O Carolan Pageant
O Carolan Pageant
An O'Carolan festival was held in Kilmainhamwood in 1970 to celebrate the tricentenary of the birth of O'Carolan. Members of the pageant included Carolan as a boy and as an adult, Bridget Cruise, Mrs MacDermottroe and her husband and some of the patrons for whom Carolan composed music.

St. Senan's Well
St.Senan founded several monasteries along the Shannon estuary in North Kerry.The Well referred to in the poem is located in Tarmons East on the outskirts of Tarbert.It was a well of pilgrimage. The poem highlights MacGreevy's identification with Tarbert and it is signicant that he has also used the pseudonym L.St Senan.
