New Greenmount School

A new, more modern school was built and opened in 1967. It has nine classrooms, two speech and language classrooms, a cookery room, an ICT room, a pre-school, and a large hall with a stage. The building is located close to the former St. Finbarr's.

The new school, pictured above, was named Scoil Náisiúnta Muire na nGrás. All the pupils from St. Finbarr's moved to the new school.

Below is a photo of the first class in the new school in 1967. Do you notice anything about the photo?

All the students in the photograph are boys. Now the school is co-educational. It caters for boys and girls from infants to sixth class. There are over 250 students attending the school.
