Mary Leadbeater: Annals of Ballitore
Mary Leadbeater, a Quaker woman, witnessed first-hand the horrors of the Rebellion and recorded the events in her diary. This was published in 1862 as 'The Annals of Ballitore,' and gives us a wonderful insight into the dreaful happenings at village level during the 1798 Rebellion. Excerpts from the chapters on 1798 are reproduced here.
