Sligo County Museum
The Sligo County Museum contain a collection of exhibits charting Sligo's rich heritage from the stone-age to the present. One exhibit includes a firkin of century old bog butter. Nobel prize winning poet William Butler Yeats holidayed in Sligo and his 1923 medal is displayed along with his complete works from 1889 to 1936. Some paintings by his brother Jack B. Yeats are featured along with works by George Russell and Sean Keating. There are also items associated with the Irish patriot and first female member of the Irish parliament, Countess Markievicz, her sister Eva Goore-Booth and the Anglo-Irish Gore-Booth landowning dynasty.
