Castle Forbes which is situated in the centre of the parish of Clongish was the residence of the Earls of Granard.

It was built in 1624 by Lady Jane Lauder, the wife of Sir Arthur Forbes

The castle is erected about one mile from the main entrance to the demense.

It consists of a minaretted tower of solid and substantial proportions, attached to which is the main or house portion of the building.
