Local Administration

Local authorities have a central role in implementing the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government's environmental programme. They translate Government policy objectives into action on the ground at local level.

They are involved in planning, monitoring, regulating and enforcing and are in the front line in tackling problems where they arise.

They also deal with environmental complaints and provide information on the local environment to the general public.
