Hedgehogs are quite different to the other animals in this section. They are not soft and furry, but are covered from head to toe in hard pointed prickles! These prickles help to protect hedgehogs from other animals.

Hedgehogs are not able to see very well. However, they do have a great sense of smell and great hearing.

Hedgehogs like to sleep during the day and get up when the sun goes down. During the night, they go hunting for food. They love worms, snails, slugs and beetles. Hedgehogs eat as much as they can in the autumn. This is because they hibernate in the winter.
