It is a row of bushes that have been planted along the edges of fields. A hedgerow separates fields from each other.
Other bushes and plants grow between those that have been planted. Lots of different flowers, fruits, bushes and trees grow in a hedgerow.
Hedgerows are very important for wildlife. They give shelter to birds and other animals.
As farmers harvest crops from the fields, hedgerows are a safe place for wildflowers to grow.
Let’s look at some of Ireland’s common hedgerow shrubs.
