Investigate foods from other countries

Have you ever wondered where the food you eat comes from? Some food is made locally, while other foods travel across the world to your local shop. Local produce can be bought in small local shops or markets. Buying local is good for the environment as you are supporting your local area, the food does not have to travel as far and less packaging is used.  

You can find out where food comes from by reading the label or looking at the price label in the shop.

Keep a food diary for one day and then investigate where the food you eat comes from. How much food came from Ireland? How much came from Europe and the rest of the world?
