In 2005, the Tullow Show celebrated its Diamond Jubilee, which means it had been sixty years in existence.

Each year at the Tullow show, prizes are awarded to those farmers who have the best animal in their category.

The cattle section in the Tullow Show is particularly strong. It includes many famous breeds, such as the pedigree Charolais, Simmental, Blonde D'Aquitaine, Belgian Blues, Limousin, Herefords, Shorthorn, Aberdeen Angus and Friesian.

Sheep entries are well represented too, and include Cheviot sheep, Texel sheep, Charolais sheep, Jacob sheep and Suffolk sheep. Horses and ponies are also featured and are a popular section.

Although Carlow does not have a strong tradition of horses, this area is growing. This is evident in the quality and number of horses and ponies taking part in the classes and competitions at the Tullow Show.

Together with the usual classes for brood mares, hunters and young horses, the Tullow Show puts a strong emphasis on involving children. All levels of expertise are encouraged to take part to gain confidence and knowledge.
