County Cork is one of six counties in the province of Munster. It is situated on the south-west coast of Ireland. It shares a border with Kerry to the west, Limerick to the north, Tipperary to the northeast and Waterford to the east.
As County Cork is the largest county in Ireland, there are plenty of interesting aspects to its geography. Lets look at these in greater detail.
Population
According to the last census, taken in 2006, the population for the whole county of Cork is 481,295. Of these, 240,814 are male and the remaining 240,481 are female.
Of the 481,295 people living in Cork, 119,418 live within the boundaries of Cork City. The other 361,877 are seen as inhabitants of Cork County.
County Cork saw a population growth of over 7% in the 2002-2006 period and 35% of the population is under 25 years old.
