Courtesy of Corinna SchleifferOne of Ireland's larger counties, Donegal consists largely of mountainous areas. Mount Errigal is the highest point in the county at 725m above sea level. The Derryveagh Mountains and the Inishowen peninsula are the next highest points.
The Donegal coastline is the longest in the country at 1134km. The main lough is Lough Swilly, extending 30km inland from the north coast to Letterkenny.
This landscape is suitable for many types of agriculture, as well as supporting fishing and aquaculture industries.The beauty of the landscape attracts many visitors to the county each year, so tourism is another important industry in Donegal.
