Browne and Nolan Ltd., Dublin.Isaac Butt (1813-1879), the famous Irish parliamentarian and Father of the Home Rule movement, was born very close to Stranorlar in Glenfin. His father was the rector of the Anglican parish of Stranorlar.
Isaac Butt started out as a unionist, but what he saw during the Famine led him to change his opinions and advocate Home Rule.
When he died, he was buried in a corner of the Protestant cemetery in Stranorlar, beneath a tree in which he used to sit and dream as a boy.
