Kildare is an inland county and is bordered by six other counties. Dublin lies to the north-east and Meath to the north. Offaly borders Kildare to the west, while Laois lies in the south-west. Carlow lies to the south and Wicklow forms the border in the south-east.
Naas is the county town. Kildare, Newbridge, Celbridge and Leixlip are other major towns.
