© Cloonsarn School Reunion CommitteeThe local national school is an important place in Irish communities. Like the rest of Ireland, Leitrim has many national schools dotted throughout its countryside.
Over the years, some schools close and new schools open. A school might close because there are not enough children living in the local community. A new school may open when several smaller schools decide it makes sense to come together to form one big school.
Leitrim has experienced a lot of emigration over the years. Many people born and educated in the county now live in other parts of Ireland and abroad.
In recent years there have been many school reunions where people can get together with old classmates they may not have seen in years.
In this section we will find out a little about the changes experienced by one national school in Leitrim.
