Drumshanbo is a town in the middle of the county along the shores of Lough Allen and nestled under the Sliabh-an-Iarainn and Arigna mountains.

Leitrim County LibraryOne of this busy market town's unique features is the High Street, which is fronted by a fine stonewall.
Also if you are ever stopping by Drumshanbo, have a look about for the Poor Clare order of nuns. Since 1864, they have prayed continuously throughout and a have been located in the Convent of Perpetual Adoration in Drumshanbo.
Drumshanbo's Rock n' Roll history
Drumshanbo is hometown to Charlie McGettigan who along with Paul Harrington won the Eurovision song contest in 1994 with the song "Rock and Roll Kids".
In the 60's and 70's the Mayflower Ballroom in Drumshanbo was a popular venue for dancing to Showbands every weekend. Check out the picture below.
It is no longer a ballroom but now serves as a Community Centre.
