Mohill is a small town in the south of Leitrim, around 16km away from Carrick-on-Shannon. It is named after St. Manachan who founded a monastery there as early as 500AD. The picture below shows the town's main street in the early 20th century.
It is surrounded by many rivers and lakes thus it has a long reputation as a center for very good fishing spots.
Hyde Street in Mohill is named after the first president of Ireland, Douglas Hyde, whose father and grandfather lived on the street and who spent part of his childhood in the town.
