St. Joseph's Church was designed by William Corbett and built by J.J. Ryan and Sons. It was first opened in 1904. It holds the chalice used by Cardinal Rinuccini in 1646 to celebrate the victory of Benburb.

This battle was won by the Irish, led by Owen Roe O'Neill. It was fought against the Scottish, led by Robert Munro. It put an end to hopes the Scottish had of conquering Ireland and imposing Presbyterianism as the State religion.
