St. John's Cathedral
Adare Manor
Building on Adare Manor begun in 1832 to replace the old manor house. At the time this Irish Tourist Association photo was taken in the 1940s, Adare Manor was the still the ancestral home of the Earls of Dunraven. It continued as such until it was sold by the Dunraven family in the early 1980s. It is now a luxury hotel resort.

St. John's Cathedral
St. John's Cathedral was first erected in 1753. A new gothic revival-style church was built on the site between 1856 and 1861. The cathedral spire dominates the skyline, stretching over 308 feet into the sky.

The cathedral spire dominates the skyline, stretching over 280 feet into the sky. It was completed in 1883, and was designed by local architect M. A. Hennessy. It is among the three tallest cathedral spires in the country.
St. Saviour's Dominican
St. Saviour's Dominican Church was designed by the Pain Brothers in 1815. Major alterations were carried out in both 1870 and 1982.

St. Saviour's Church was designed by the Pain Brothers in 1815. Major alterations were carried out in 1870 and 1982. The church was in danger of closing in 2000, but today it provides a training base for those joining the Dominican Order.

This church is a neo-classical building and was designed by William Corbett. Erected by McCarthy and Guerin in 1876, it was renovated in the 1930s, and today stands impressively at the foot of Henry Street.
