Courtesy Boherlahan Dualla Historical Journal.Although Tipperary was mainly a dairy farming county, some crops were also traditionally grown on farms. Corn and wheat were harvested in the autumn. During this busy time, a farmer could rely on the help of his neighbours from the locality to help him to save his crop.
A machine called a threshing mill harvested the crop. This period was a very busy time for everyone on the farm. The farmer would provide food and drink for his helpers, and on the final night of the harvest, a dance would be held to celebrate the saving of the crop.
