  • Aspects of Waterford City

Opening in 1857

The park was opened in August 1857. It consisted of 15 acres and was planted with trees and laid out with walks and mounds. The park was pretty and picturesque with a bandstand, bicycle track, ornamental fountain and two Russian cannons that were donated to the City Council.

A small children's playground was added to the park in 1949. A light iron bridge, Carlisle Bridge, links the Park with the Court House across the River Pill.

This photo shows the new playground that was built in 2004.
