The park includes 25 km of coastline with great beaches at Annestown and Woodstown. The rocks of the Copper Coast record geological events over 460 millions years old.
In 1999, a geological park was built in Bunmahon as well as a Mining Heritage Centre, which told the story of mining in Bunmahon and the surrounding areas. The cliffs west of Bunmahon were mined for lead, silver and copper in the 18th century but it was east of Bunmahon in the 19th century that mining became so popular.
