She has many recollections of the sights and sounds associated with her childhood. The only traffic that came down her street was the odd horse and cart, push bike or big flat cart pulled by two big work horses. This meant it was much safer and easier to play out on the road.

This is a photo of Marie on the day of her First Communion in 1941.
Courtesy of Wexford county Council Public Library Service. She remembers fondly, 'Girls played by making rag dolls, playing hopscotch, hide and seek and loads more innocent games. These were all played outside our front door. In winter evenings we sat around the fire in our cosy house playing cards and telling ghost stories.'
Blackberry and flower picking were other pastimes that kept the children busy. Are there any similarities between Marie's childhood pastimes and yours?
